Children in our situation take greater responsibilities, earlier than others. Your kindness means a lot to me. I am persisted to study hard to receive excellent scores and later give back to my community.

HISTORY
PROGRAM
Eyambeko was founded in 2011 by Reinhard Maier, who before had been working in Namibia. As corporate volunteer in his employer Pfizer’s Global Health Fellow Program he supported the work of an international development organization. In Namibia he looked into the national TBC / HIV program of USAID and the Namibian Ministry of Health. He returned to Germany with new experiences and a personal connection to the country and its people.
It started with the sponsoring of individual children, whose education Reinhard Maier and a few like-minded supporters paid for between 2009 and 2011. In the meantime also a school was supported financially. When the number of sponsored children and youths had grown to 15 in May 2011, Eyambeko was founded as a registered, nonprofit society.
In November 2013 Eyambeko started its sponsorship program in South Africa and in January 2016 in Uganda.
Eyambeko already supports more than 50 children and youths with their education. The first children to be sponsored have grown to young adults since – and achieved what Eyambeko is working to offer today’s pupils as well: the best graduation possible and subsequent professional training or university studies.
Our first alumna Gloria has successfully graduated in February 2014 at the age of 22. Her field of expertise: Human Resource Development.
Eyambeko pays for school uniforms and materials as well as – if needed – school fees and boarding school fees. Eyambeko also accounts for the distribution of the donations in Namibia, South Africa and Uganda, and comprehensively documents their use. At Eyambeko we all work as volunteers.
The children and youths are nominated following a personal meeting with a member of Eyambeko. And we continue to stay in close contact over the course of their education. To ensure that our support yields fruit we regularly screen and discuss the childrens’ school performances with them. On the basis of this dialogue and their examination results we decide on their further support.
Eyambeko is a sponsorship program for gifted children and youths in Namibia, South Africa and Uganda who would not attend school without our financial support.
We accompany them on their educational journey from primary school up to their secondary school diploma, university studies or subsequent professional training.
